Clemson quarterback Christopher Vizzina explains his loyalty to Clemson in modern football
Quarterbacks don’t usually wait around anymore. In today’s college game, when playing time isn’t immediate, the transfer portal often becomes the next step. Chris Vizzina has chosen a very different path. Now entering his third season at Clemson, the former top-100 recruit has remained behind Cade Klubnik, learning and developing rather than searching for a quicker opportunity elsewhere. For him, the idea of leaving has never been on the table. “This place is very special,” Vizzina said. “I love Clemson just because of Clemson. QB Gio Lopez embraces his opportunity at UNC, playing for Belichick
CHARLOTTE — When Gio Lopez entered the transfer portal after a breakout season at South Alabama, he wasn’t just looking for a new school — the quarterback was looking for a new challenge. The decision didn’t take long. “Funny enough, wasn’t much of a pitch needed. When you get the greatest head coach of all time talking to you, pretty much just listen,” said Lopez, who last season threw for 2,559 yards and 18 touchdowns and five interceptions while running for 463 yards and seven touchdowns. “He just kind of told me, just a chance to compete. That’s all I wanted. I’m not asking for any handouts. I just want to compete.”
