Walker was a five-star high school recruit and one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation for the class of 2022, including being ranked as the nation’s #1 dual-threat QB by ESPN. Invited to the Elite 11 camp after winning the MaxPreps High School Football Player of the Year in Louisiana as well as the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, Walker led St. Thomas Moore to back-to-back state titles during his sophomore and junior years. He passed for over 5,800 yards and 67 touchdowns during his last two seasons in high school.

The day after he signed his national letter of intent, Walker Howard drove toward his house in a black Jeep. Two friends sat in the car with him as he turned onto an empty grass lot next to the driveway.
